There are two types of load test that can be performed on a pile sufficiently quickly for up to ten piles to be tested in a day. They are the “Dynamic” load test and the “Rapid” load test.
(The Dynamic Load Test is also called “High Strain Dynamic” test to distinguish it from the Low-Strain Integrity test. The Rapid Load Test is also called “Force Pulse” or “Hybridynamic” load test. It is called the “Statnamic” load test when a particular proprietary loading system is used.)
Tambew is presently unable to offer either of these tests but equipment to do the Rapid Load Test is under construction.
Research at The University of the Witwatersrand has been done to improve, for partially saturated soil conditions often found in South Africa, the interpretation of the measurements made in the Rapid Load Test into the behaviour of the pile under static load. See “Static pile capacity from the rapid test via the unloading point method” J.S.Afr.Inst.Civ.Eng. 2021:63(2) by clicking here.
Further information about these two methods of test is given on pages: DYNAMIC LOAD TEST and RAPID LOAD TEST.
